Whatcha Listenin' To?

Well, if anyone wants to keep up the TV talk, feel free to follow the Survivor Nerds link to the right and join what is at present a fledgling dialogue about that fantastic television program. We'll probably get some family photos and news up on this blog in the near future (we don't download our pictures very often) but for now we want to share with you the music that excites us these days. WE don't have a lot of "flex dollars" here in Caronport and so tend to use "birthday money" to buy "luxury items" such as nice clothes and music. Hence Angie, who takes a whole year to spend her birthday money, and Jon, who has usually spent it before it even arrives, have recently purchased some great music:

  • Sarah Harmer: "You Were Here" (Angie's. Lodestar is a masterpeice. You owe it to yourself to hear this song)
  • Johnny Cash: "American IV" (Jon's. "Hurt" is also amazing. See the music video too. The farmers love this when Jon puts it on at work. The college kids make strange faces.)
  • Tony Bennett: "Duets" (We went together on this. We have a soft spot for Tony

  • Phoenix: "Alphabetical" and the new one "Its Never Been Like That" (Jon's new favourite band. Check it out online at www.wearephoenix.com)
  • Ryan Adams: "Love is Hell" (Dave McG and Jeff brought this for me for my birthday. It is some beautiful mellow stuff)
  • Beck: "Sea Change" (Jon's. Classic mellow stuff)
  • Sigur Rós: "Agaetis Byrjun" (Jon's)
  • Other notable songs the playlist:

  • Buck 65: Blood of a Young Wolf and Corrugated Tin Facade and The Floor
  • Pretty much anything Joel Plaskett
  • Jeff Coutts: "Your Imagined Fire" (Three incredible new songs from my brother which you can access free through the link on the sidebar)
  • How about you? Whatcha listenin' to?

(Just found a tonne of old radio shows on iTunes. Oops, can I talk about a Mac on your PC? I know it works the other way around, but...). Laurie and I also bought another installment of Adventures in Odyssey. Makin' the long trips short!)

I was just introduced to My Morning Jacket. Good college radio stuff there UofL man. I used to be a diehard Switchfoot fan. On that last CD, "the Blues" is a GREAT song.

That Bright Eyes CD and Illinoise are fantastic too tanti.

Philip, is it really called "the Blue Album". If it isn't, it should be.
